Bloodstorm : A Karl Kane Novel

Bloodstorm by Sam MillarKarl Kane is a private investigator with a dark past. As a child, he witnessed the brutal rape and murder of his mother. The same man sexually molested Karl, leaving him for dead with horrific knife wounds covering his body. Years later, Karl has a chance to avenge his mother's murder by killing the man responsible.

The opportunity arises on one unforgettable Good Friday night. For reasons he later regards as cowardice, Karl allows the opportunity to slip through his hands, only to be shattered when, two days later, two young girls are sexually molested and then brutally murdered by the killer on Easter Sunday morning. Karl now holds himself responsible for their deaths.

Le Monde’s Recommended Thriller of the Year.

"Gripping and arrestingly violent, Bloodstorm is a well-written thriller with its share of disturbing insights into the dark side of the human psyche." Mail on Sunday

"Karl Kane takes no prisoners - literally as well as figuratively - in this dark, page-turner of a book. Millar's ability to tap into the dark recesses of the human mind is brilliantly constructed, page after nerve shattering page. Bloodstorm is a triumph from a master storyteller and bloody great crime writer." Irish News

"The start of a powerful first of a new crime series. Extremely original, it is a chillingly gripping book." Publisher Weekly, USA

“Bloodstorm is a classy, on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller. Relentlessly violent it may be, but nevertheless delivers - in bloody spades - what it tells you on the cover. A sure-shot hit from Belfast’s most controversial writer…” Sunday Life

“Carried by a scathing writing as a cold rain on Ireland, Bloodstorm stands out as one of the great thrillers of the beginning of the year, 2014.” Philippe Blanchet, Grand Prize for Literature, Le Figaro Magazine

"Bloodstorm begins with a dynamite opening - one of the most gripping I've read in a while - and when the pieces finally fall into place, they do so with considerable narrative force. There's enough promise in here to keep me waiting anxiously for the next instalment." Mystery Scene Review, USA

"Sam Millar can write, and what he describes gets under your skin and itches there for quite a while. Millar has the key to a world that you would rather stay away, but undoubtedly exists. And fascinating." Bücher Magazine, Germany

"What a fascinating story! With a shocking, breathtaking finale." La Presse, Canada

"Millar is rapidly building a reputation for pacy thrillers in the crime noir genre. This latest offering, Bloodstorm, will not disappoint his expanding fan base." Irish Independent

"Sarcastic, sexy, dramatic and original!" Stern Magazine, Germany

“What a fascinating story! With a shocking, breathtaking finale.” Norbert Spehner, La Presse, Canada.

“Carried by a scathing writing as cold rain on Ireland, Bloodstorm stands out as one of the great thrillers of the beginning of the year.” Philippe Blanchet, recipient Grand Prize of Literature, Le Figaro Magazine

"In Bloodstorm, Millar's wisecracking PI Karl Kane, will remind fans of the Marlowe stories; its as masterful as anything Chandler concocted. Crime noir doesn't get much darker or grittier than this shocking take of corruption and revenge. Altogether, Bloodstorm is a real find for aficionados of the classic hard-boiled novel who whould like to see the form updated without it smelling like an anachronism." Booklist, USA

“Karl Kane rocks!” James Thompson, international best-selling author, Snow Angels
